Take up SYL issue also, Youth Congress told

By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH, NOV.22 . The Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal supremo, Om Prakash Chautala, today advised the Youth Congress, which had announced plans to "gherao" the State Assembly here on December 1, to rather "gherao" the Parliament House on that day to express resentment against the recent increase in the prices of diesel and petrol and also pressurise the Centre for the early completion of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal.

Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the National Workshop on Agro-forestry here, he also criticised the BJP for politicising the issue of the Kanchi Sankaracharya, Jayendra Saraswathi. If the BJP was reacting seriously to the arrest of the seer and the "insult'' meted to him, then why did it not take similar stand in the past when persons of high repute had to face "insult,'' he asked?

He also asserted that the call for bandh issued by some organisations was not a "good practice'' as such protests disrupted normal life.
