Recruitment
`Dharam Singh doing well'
Bangalore Nov. 22. The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, B. Janardhana Poojary, has expressed the party's satisfaction and happiness over the performance of the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, despite the bickering between the coalition partners. He maintained at a press conference today that the delay in the expansion of the Ministry had not damaged the image of Mr. Singh. Mr. Poojary noted that it was not easy to run a coalition Government and it was natural if there was some discontent in the Congress ranks. However, the Chief Minister had been assured that the party was with him and was happy with his performance. Asked as to what difficulty the Congress was facing in expanding the Ministry when it could successfully do it in Maharashtra in one go, Mr. Poojary said that the question must be put to the Janata Dal (Secular). Asked whether it would be his turn to make way for somebody as the KPCC President after the change of guard in the Janata Dal (S) and the BJP, Mr. Poojary jocularly remarked that as he had already declared that he would not contest for the post at the end of his term, many in the Congress must have heaved a sigh of relief. Explaining his periodic attacks on the Janata Dal (S), Mr. Poojary said that as President of the State unit of the Congress, he could not tolerate criticism of the party by anybody and he would react aggressively. On his own he would not say anything about others. On the alleged interference in the administration, Mr. Poojary said that the Janata Dal (S) leaders should react to the kind of interference by their party president, H.D. Deve Gowda, and his son in the administration, if they had the guts. "If the Janata Dal (S) declares a ceasefire, I too am prepared for a similar declaration. If they draw a Lakshman Rekha, then I will also draw a line and not cross it. If unnecessary criticism was made against the Chief Minister, he could not keep quiet "as Congress blood flows in my body."
