Protest against clerk's transfer

TUMKUR, NOV. 23. The office-bearers of several teachers' unions, including Renuka Prasad, president of a high school teachers' union; Mudlagiriyappa, convenor of a headmasters' association, and Shankar, secretary of a principals' union, staged a dharna in front of the Education Department office here on Monday in protest against the transfer of a first division clerk to Turuvekere. Their supporters allegedly locked up the office. However, the officials, who got the lock opened with the help of the police, relieved the clerk.
