>Heavy rain in Karaikal CHENNAI, NOV. 23. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Kerala and Lakshadweep and dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The following stations recorded a heavy rain fall in cm. Kerala 8 and Tiruthuraipoondi and Nannilam (both Tiruvarur dt.) and Tiruvarur 7 cm. each. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are: Mannargudi (Tiruvarur dt.) and Vedaranyam 5 each, Nagapattinam 4, Needamangalam (Tiruvarur dt.) 3, Parangipettai, Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt.) and Sirkali (Nagapattinam dt.) 2 each and Adiramapattinam, Vallam (Thanjavur dt.), Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.) Pamban and Ramanathapuram 1 each. The minimum temperature rose at one or two places over North Tamil Nadu, fell at one or two places over South Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and changed a little elsewhere over the region. They were appreciably below normal at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, below normal at one or two places over rest Telangana, Coastal and North Interior Karnataka, rest Coastal Andhra Pradesh, above normal at one or two places over North Tamil Nadu and were generally normal over the rest of the region. Adilabad and Medak recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 12 degree Celsius in the plains of the region.

FORECAST (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Coastal Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Interior Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
