SHIMLA, NOV. 23. Disturbed over the continuous threat by the Tourism Minister on privatising some prime properties of State Tourism Development Corporation, the employees unions today sought his removal from the Ministry. Three main unions of the HPTDC employees wrote to the Chief Minister in this regard. The HPTDC Officers Association, HPTDC Employees Union and HPTDC Transport Workers Union have jointly alleged that the State Tourism Minister, G.S. Bali, is regularly creating a panic among 1600 workers of the Corporation by announcing proposals of disinvestment in the profit-making units of the Corporation. This includes the flagship Chail Palace hotel, Naldera Golf Course and the top notch Ashiana Restaurant on the historic Ridge Maidan. The unions also resented the way the Minister suspended two HPTDC employees last week on the basis of a complaint by some tourists regarding the delay in the departure of a bus in Manali.
