A woman, Suman Kushwaha of R. Nagar, was caught in a cross-fire and killed when she went for casting vote at Government Higher Secondary School No. 1 in Bhind. The polling continued for the remaining part of the day under heavy police security.

In the first phase of polling on November 20, 3008 municipal wards in 144 local bodies, including 11 municipal corporations, 45 municipal councils and 88 Nagar Panchayats were covered. The counting of votes, to be held in two phases, would commence tomorrow and the results would be available from Wednesday afternoon. The final results would be out only by November 25.

In yesterday's repoll, three women were beaten up in Indore, when they ventured out to cast vote ignoring the Bandh call given by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The Pandrinath Police station later became the scene of a protest demonstration when the Police rounded up some of those involved in the violent incident in which the women voters were abused and beaten up. The Police had to resort to a lathicharge to disperse the crowd.
