THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 23. The Kerala Secretariat Employees Association formed a "protective chain" around the Secretariat today to highlight the grievances of the Secretariat employees and demanding their redressal. The State general secretary of the CITU, P.K. Gurudasan, who participated in the protest, later told the employees that if public sector was under threat in the past and the working class and the people had to rally round for its protection, the nerve centre of administration was in danger now. More and more responsibilities of the Secretariat were being handed over to the private sector or voluntary agencies. The employees took a pledge to protect the Secretariat. It was led by K. Jayachandran, president, and S.U. Rajiv, general secretary of the association.
