Woman attacked in feud dies

NELLORE, NOV.23. A feud between a husband and wife resulted in the gruesome death of the latter's mother, besides causing grievous injuries to the wife at Alaganipadu village of Nellore district on Monday evening.

According to the Rural DSP, Eswaraiah, the couple -- Ch. Narayana (45) and Ch. Vijaya (38) - had been married for seven years and had no children. Due to differences, both of them have been living separately in Alaganipadu village. While Vijaya was laying a fence between their houses, Narayana reportedly raised an objection, which was brushed aside by Vijaya. An enraged Narayana immediately went inside his house and brought a bill hook and then allegedly attacked Vijaya. His mother-in-law, Jalamma (56), who intervened, was also attacked. Both of them were admitted to Government Headquarters Hospital where Jalamma died while undergoing treatment. Vijaya however, was said to be progressing.

Killed in mishap

A man, S. Polaiah (60), who was crossing the road, was fataly knocked down by an RTC bus on the Naidupet-Tirupati national highway. He belonged to Diguvachavali village of Pellakur mandal.
