By Our Special Correspondent
TIRUPATI. Nov 23. Curtains came down on Tuesday on the week-long literary festival organised by the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) in memory of Sankarambadi Sundaracharya who composed the state anthem, "Maa Telugu Talliki''. The literary bonanza was preceded by the unveiling of the bronze statue of the son-of-the-soil on the Tiruchanur road here by the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
Kavi sammelanam
Besides special lecture on various facets of Telugu literature, culture and heritage by leading lights of the branches, classical music and dance concerts, Kavi sammelanam also marked the festival which truly turned to be a feast to the eyes and ears.
The valedictory address was given by film-maker K. Viswanath, who said mere breast beating over production of obscene and commercial movies would not mitigate the problem so long as the public did not encourage films produced painstakingly to preserve and perpetuate our rich values and cultural moorings.
The TTD's Executive Officer, Ajeya Kallam, presided. The TUDA chairman, B. Karunakar Reddy, welcomed the guests.
