ANANTAPUR, NOV. 23. The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi staged a rail roko here on Tuesday demanding enactment of a law on the categorisation of Scheduled Castes in the State. The activists of MRPS detained the New Delhi-Bangalore Karnataka Express for about 45 minutes at the railway station here. They asked the State and Central Governments to make a legislation on the categorisation. They retreated after an assurance from the police and railway officials of taking the matter to the notice of the Government.

Contract staff plea

Contract employees of the Government Medical College and the attached General Hospital staged a dharna in front of the hospital here on Tuesday demanding implementation of minimum wages and regular payment of wages. They pointed out that the High Court had directed the Government to ensure minimum wages to contract employees about 11 months ago, but it had not been implemented so far. Besides, the wages were also not paid on regular basis.
