KOLLAM, NOV. 23. The Revenue Minister, K. M. Mani, has said that 27,000 persons in the State will be given title deeds or possession certificates by the time the UDF Government headed by the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, completes 100 days in office. Mr. Chandy assumed office on August 31 after A. K. Antony resigned on August 29. Inaugurating a `pattaya mela' here today to distribute title deedshe said a applications for title deeds pending before various taluk offices would be settled by December 17. He said under the Mythri Housing project, the present UDF Government constructed 30,490 houses at a cost of Rs. 58 crores. The LDF Government had dropped the project after it was launched with much fanfare, he said. One-time settlement for defaulters of loan taken from the Housing Board had been introduced and Rs. 42 crores was collected. The last date for the settlement had been extended up to March 31, 2005, he said. Earlier while talking to reporters, Mr. Mani said the Kerala Congress(Jacob) leader was suffering from heartburn after being denied a Cabinet berth. He said his party had demanded the Rajya Sabha seat with the full hope of getting it.
