RAIPUR, NOV. 23. The Chhattisgarh Assembly was adjourned on the opening day of the Winter Session today after Opposition Congress created a pandemonium in the House alleging the law and order had collapsed in the State. "The situation has become so bad in the state after BJP came to power that even the policemen have been kidnapped," Leader of Opposition Mahendra Karma said in the House. Immediately after the question hour, as planned at the CLP meeting, members of the main Opposition members rose from their seats and waved placards with names of those allegedly killed in police custody during the BJP regime. "The people of the State are killed both by police bullets and in police custody," Mr. Karma and other members of his party alleged and raising anti-government slogans, stalled the House proceedings. Despite repeated request by the Speaker to maintain restrain, the Opposition members continued shouting slogans, following which the House was adjourned for 10 minutes and again for half an hour. When the House reassembled, the Congress activists continued their pandemonium and the Speaker declared lunch break before time. After the lunch break, the Speaker asked the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ajay Chandrakar to table the proceeding of the Business Advisory Committee. But immediately the Leader of Opposition rose from his chair and mentioning the controversy of allegedly killing of two teachers and a student by police during an encounter with naxalites said the law and order has collapsed in the State. The Speaker then adjourned the House till tomorrow amidst slogan shouting by Congress members. PTI
