Farm workers' plea on land distribution
HYDERABAD,
NOV. 23.
The Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Workers' Union on Tuesday demanded early constitution of the commission on distribution of land as announced by the Government and allocation of available land to the needy.
At a press conference here, B. Venkat, general secretary, V. Venkateswarlu, secretary, and R. Kuppa Naidu, vice-president, said no order was issued after the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, held discussions with representatives of the two Communist parties in August.
The leaders expressed doubts about the government's sincerity to take up distribution of land by declaring intent to allocate only to one lakh persons whereas lakhs of acres were available.
