HYDERABAD, NOV. 23. The BJP national secretary, B. Dattatreya, has alleged that the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has become jittery and insecure with the Congress high command taking note of his "hasty'' decisions which incurred the wrath of the High Court. Dr. Reddy suffered a series of setbacks with the court rulings in respect of reservations for minorities, the Pulichintala project and irrigation tenders. The inefficiency of his Government was exposed which gave Dr. Reddy a feeling that the high command would gun for him, Mr. Dattatreya told reporters here on Tuesday.
A house divided
On the one hand, the Government was rapped up by the court and on the other, the Ministers spoke in different voices. The Rural Development Minister, D. Srinivas, had gone into a shell and the Vijayawada MP, L. Rajagopal, fired salvos at the Chief Minister, showing that dissidence had begun in the party and things were no longer rosy at the party level too, he added. Nevertheless, Mr. Dattatreya said the Congress Government would last its full term as it had a brute majority.
`Ryots neglected'
The former Union Minister of State also said the "frustration'' of the Chief Minister was visible from his "silence'' on the list of 2008 farmers who had committed suicide in the last six months was released by the TDP. Dr. Reddy had neglected the farm sector. The situation was so alarming that a farmer committed suicide on court premises in Guntur and another attempted to do so at Dr. Reddy's public meeting at Jangaon on Monday.
