Temperature

MADURAI, NOV.23. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 30.6 degree Celsius and a minimum of 22 degree Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam today stood at 130.6 feet with a decreased inflow of 626 cusecs and a discharge of 900 cusecs.

The level in the Vaigai dam was 68.04 feet with an inflow of 1588 cusecs and a discharge of 2349 cusecs.

The combined Periyar credit stood at 7849 mcft.

Marudhanadi and Madurai registered a rainfall of 3 and 2 mm respectively.

Incentive

The Collector, D. Raajendiran, disbursed Rs.13.24 lakhs as incentive to agents who performed well in mopping up revenue for the Small Savings department by means of deposits in small savings schemes.

He distributed the cheques at a function organised by the department here on Monday.

Meditation training

The Madurai branch of the Chinmaya Mission will organise a meditation training programme, `Dharanai Yogam,' at Chinmaya Meenakshi Dhyana Mandapam, Doak Nagar, from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on December 5. Last date

The Madurai chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India has announced that the last date for admission to the intermediate course in Company Secretaryship is November 30.

Those candidates who register before the said date will be eligible to appear for one group in the examination to be held in June 2005, according to an official release.

Programme launched

The solid waste management programme was launched at Vilangudi, with the assistance of the Centre for Environmental Services on Sunday.

Four workers, with two tricycles, have been appointed in the area for carrying to segregate solid waste at source in the area.

M. Arumugam, president, Vilangudi branch of the Tamil Nadu Consumer Protection Centre, inaugurated the programme. S.V. Pathy, Executive Director, CENS, spoke.
