Internet cafes to remain open

Thiruvananthapuram,Nov.23. Internet cafes will remain open on hartal days, the Internet Café and DTP Owners Association of Kerala has said. The association general secretary, Mujeeb Pulackal, said in a statement here today that this was in support of the traders' decision to move against hartals that disrupt normal life.

Workshop on pollution

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Thiruvananthapuram Engineering College is organising a one-day national workshop on `Effect of pollution on environment' here on Thursday. The workshop is being sponsored by the All India Council of Technical Education and Combustion Institute. It will cover industrial pollution, automobile pollution and pollution monitoring.

`Sangita Santhwanam'

The Communist ideologue P. Govinda Pillai inaugurated a music programme organised by the Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust at the Regional Cancer Centre here this evening. This was followed by the programme `Sangita Santhwanam' by Suvarna Nalapatt and Bhuvaneswari. The programme was organised in connection with the 79th birthday of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. M. Subadra Nair, J. Lalithambika, K. Venugopal and K.N. Ananda Kumar spoke.

Youth fete

The district higher secondary youth festival will be held at the B.N.V. Higher Secondary School, Thiruvallam, on January 4, 5, 6 and 7. A 251-member reception committee and 14 sub-committees have been formed for the conduct of the youth festival. The reception committee office will be inaugurated at the school auditorium on December 1.
