THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 23. The Rural Police are investigating a city-based gang in connection with the murder of Punnackal Santhosh (26), whose body was found in an autorickshaw at Valiyarakonam in Malayankeezhu police station limits on Monday night. According to the police, Santhosh was kidnapped by an armed gang from a barbershop in Thaliyal in Fort police station limits at around 4 p.m. on Monday. The gang members were travelling in a red Tata Sumo van. At around 7.30 p.m., a fatally injured Santhosh was helped into an autorickshaw by two unidentified persons wielding swords near Four Cents Colony in Vilapilsala. The autorickshaw driver panicked and alerted the police. The police said intra-gang rivalry is the motive for the murder. Santhosh is accused in some assault and robbery cases registered by the Vilapilsala police. He was associated for sometime with a local gang in Vilaplisala. Santhosh is also known to have links with several city-based criminal gangs, the police said. The body of Santhosh was handed over to relatives after post-mortem examination at the Medical College Hospital here.
