THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 23. The Fort police have arrested two persons, including a woman, on the charge of cheating a youth of Rs.13,000 by promising him employment as a clerk in the Travancore Devaswom Board office. The Circle Inspector, T.F. Xaviour, identified the accused as Sasidharan Nair (54) of Vattiyoorkavu and Jayasree (40) of Thirumala. The CI said an "appointment order" with the forged seal of the Board was seized from the accused. He said Jayasree had approached the complainant, Subash (26), posing as an accountant in the Devaswom Board. Both were produced before the magistrate court on the charges of conspiracy and cheating and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
Another case
The Peroorkada police have arrested two persons on the charge of cheating traders by posing as wholesale dealers of consumer goods. The accused were identified as Mehaboob (39) and Shanir (19). Both are residents of Paravoor in Kollam district. The Circle Inspector, Peroorkada, M. Radhakrishnan, said the duo were arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by a local trader. According to the CI, the modus operandi of the accused was take cash from traders and defraud them by not supplying the goods. They were produced before the magistrate court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
