Couple hacked to death

VIJAYAWADA, NOV.23. A couple -- S. Reddy (30) and his wife Latha (27) -- were hacked to death in Gannavaram mandal on Tuesday.

The victims, residing in ESI Colony Gunadala in Vijayawada, were returning home by scooter from Vempadu village when they were waylaid by four persons and hacked to death. They were reportedly chased and killed.

According to the Gannavaram SI, M. Ratna Raju, the murder was a sequel to a long-standing property dispute in the family. S. Reddy, an engineer with a private firm, was the son of Prakash Reddy, a retired District and Medical Health Officer.
