Weather

The Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 31.3 degrees Celsius and minimum of 17.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Humidity, which was recorded at 70 per cent in the morning, increased marginally to 71 per cent in the evening.

Commodity prices

The following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Tuesday: Groundnut oil - 53.50, palmolein oil - 41.75 sunflower oil - 52.50, tamarind (flower variety) - 33 to 39, tamarind (karipuli variety) - 48 to 54, chillies (refrigerated) - 23 to 28, chillies - 14 to18, rice (2716) - 12, rice superfine (samba masoori) 13 to 14, rice sona masoori - 15 to 16, black gram (pottu minapappu) -22, red gram (kandipappu) - 24, red gram (Nagpur) 30.

Power supply

timings

The timings for supplying three-phase power to agricultural connections in Madduru, Vaukuru, Kasarnenivaripalem, Gosala and Chodavaram have been changed to facilitate urgent repair works in the 33/11 K V Madduru sub-station for one day. Power being supplied from 10 am to 4 pm will instead be supplied from 4 am to 12 noon.

`Anti-pollution

day'

Special programmes will be held at the Gora Science Centre on December 3, `anti-pollution day', to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Bhopal gas tragedy. A drawing competition will be held for high school children in connection with the `anti-pollution day' on November 30.

A seminar will be organised on pollution on December 3. Officials of the A.P.Pollution Control Board will participate in the programme, according to the science centre director, G.Niyanta.

Elected

The Krishna district Sepak Takraw Association has elected G. Ramesh its president for the next term. Azra Panduranga Rao, was elected secretary.
