CRIME WATCH

Audio systems of cars stolen

Thieves took away audio systems of four cars parked inside the Surya Villa building in Padmavathi Colony, Khairatabad, on Monday night. The miscreants broke the glasses of the cars and stole the audio systems, the Panjagutta police said.

Houses burgled

Gold ornaments weighing 5.5 tolas, cash of Rs. 20,000 and 10 saris worth Rs. 20,000 were stolen from a house at G.M. Chawni near Kandikalgate on Monday night. The house owner, M.A. Khaleq, and his family members were not there when the crime was committed.

Thieves broke into a house at G.M. Colony in the Chatrinaka police station area and took away Rs. 43,000 and some jewellery on Monday.

Chain-snatching cases

Two more motorists were relieved of their ornaments in the limits of Chaderghat and Charminar police stations on Monday.

Two motorcycle-borne youngsters snatched away a gold chain from a two-wheeler rider at Chaderghat on Monday night. A businessman, B. Shankaraiah, was returning to his house in New Malakpet. The miscreants, riding a motorcycle, asked for some address and even before he could respond they snatched the chain and drove off.

A resident of Shantiniketan in Fatehullahbagh, Naresh Kumar, was coming on his two-wheeler along with his wife and two children. On reaching Pathargatti, two persons came on a motorcycle, pulled the bracelet and sped away.

Criminal case booked

The Kukatpally police registered a criminal case against Padmaja for allegedly collecting lakhs of rupees by assuring high rate of interest and for not repaying either the principal or interest amounts.

Two women -- Chandrika and Venkatamma -- lodged a complaint stating that Padmaja owed them Rs. 12.5 lakhs and Rs. 2.5 lakhs respectively.

Two Biharis held, firearms seized

The Hyderabad Police Commissioner's Task Force (West) team arrested two persons of Bihar -- Munshi Kumar Rai, 24, and Umesh Kumar Rai, 28, on Tuesday. A country-made firearm was seized from their possession, a press release said. Ram Parvej, another accomplice of the arrested, was still at large.
