Bapuji Dental College jubilee tomorrow

DAVANGERE, NOV. 24. The Bapuji Dental College and Hospital here will celebrate its silver jubilee on Friday.

About 2,000 doctors, professors, and researchers who have passed out from the institution are expected to attend the function.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, the principal of the college and organising chairman of the silver jubilee celebrations, K. Sadashiva Shetty, said that the college, which was started in 1979 with just 30 students, had earned a name in dental education in the country.

The students, who passed out from the college, were appointed doctors and lecturers without any interview or written test. He also said that the college had become a "trendsetter" in the country.

Dr. Shetty claimed that the college was the first to introduce computers for teaching dental sciences and treating dental problems.

The president of the Dental Council of India, Anil Kohli, the Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University, K. Chidananda Gowda, and the Vice-Chancellor of the Ragiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Chandrashekar, will participate in the function.

Shyamanur Shivashankarappa, MLA, and S.S. Mallikarjun, former Minister and joint secretary of the Bapuji Education Association, will felicitate dignitaries on the occasion.
