New vistas

Sir, — Dr. Singh's brief visit to the Northeast has opened up new vistas for a better understanding between the region and the Centre. Though he has not promised any package, he has applied the healing touch by his gentle talk and persuasive manner. Here is a Prime Minister who does not hesitate to travel widely to understand people's problems firsthand. Some of the promises he made must be made good, especially the review of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in Manipur.
