Cooperatives

Sir, — The cooperative movement is for the people and by the people. It is meant for the uplift of those below the poverty line. But governments and parties heading them put spokes in the wheel of the movement by appointing and allowing their own people with vested interests to occupy top posts.

They do not allow the members of the cooperatives to manage their affairs independently. The law should be changed prohibiting outsiders in the movement.
