MYSORE, NOV. 24. The City Crime Branch has arrested a man on the charge of theft and recovered jewellery and other valuables from him. A release said the accused, Nagaraja, a resident of Ashokapuram, was arrested on Sunday at Bade Makan area. With his arrest, the police claimed to have solved two cases of theft reported in Chamrajanagar town, Saraswathipuram and Srirampura area recently. Nagaraja, the release said, had broken open the door of a house belonging to S.R. Rajgopal, a resident of Telecom Layout, on September 19 when the family members had gone to attend a function in Bangalore. The Saraswathipuram Police had registered a case of house break-in and theft. Nagaraja had allegedly broken into the residence of S. Chandrashekar in Srirampura area in May 2004. He had allegedly committed theft at the residence of R. Gurulingappa at the Housing Board Colony in Chamarajanagar town in September 2004, according to the release. The release said Nagaraja had revealed to the police where he had pawned the stolen jewellery and other valuables. Based on this information, the police recovered the items from pawnbroker shops on Thyagaraja Road, Basaveshwara Road and at Doora village, near here. The release said theft cases had been registered against Nagaraja at Ashokapuram, Narasimharaja, Krishnaraja and Srirangapatna police stations.
