THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 24. Electronically operated coach guidance system will be introduced in all major stations in the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division, according to the Divisional Railway Manager, G. Narayanan. Speaking at the first meeting of the newly constituted Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) of the division held at the divisional headquarters here on Monday, Dr. Narayanan said the Division had taken steps to improve passenger amenities. A sum of Rs.3 crores to Rs. 4 crores is made available to improve the amenities. He said steps would be taken to improve the parcel traffic. The Railways have plans to introduce high capacity parcel vans and exclusive parcel express trains depending on the demand of parcel traffic from the Division. Dr. Narayanan pointed out that frequent `rail roko' agitations was causing inconvenience to the passengers as well as the Railways. The DRUCC unanimously passed a resolution against the `rail roko' strike called by political parties and other organisations. Eleven members of the DRUCC participated in the meeting. The Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Sujatha Jayaraj, and the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, K. Manoj, were among those who attended the meeting.
