BANGALORE, NOV. 24. A four-day agricultural trade fair Bangalore Agri Tech 2004 will be held on the Palace Grounds here from Thursday. The Minister for Agriculture, K. Srinivasa Gowda, will inaugurate the event.
Participation
Over 30,000 farmers, businesspersons and consultants from the agricultural sector, and farm scientists from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh are expected to participate in the event. Subjects such as dryland agriculture, water harvesting, integrated pest management, organic farming, crop diversification, cost reduction technologies and marketing avenues will be given priority at the fair, according to V.R. Ravi Kumar, chief convener of Agri Tech.
Products' display
About 150 top farm-based companies are expected to participate in the trade fair and reach the end-users by displaying their products and services. The fair will throw light on new avenues in agricultural practices and technology. Industries involved in poultry, dairy, food processing, biotechnology, seed production, agro-chemicals, farm machinery, cold storage, cor-porate farming, nurseries, plantations, publications, packaging and research and development will also participate in the event. The trade fair was not held in Bangalore in the past three years on account of consecutive droughts.
