Govt. will last full term, says Kumaraswamy

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, NOV. 24. The working president of the Janata Dal (Secular) State unit, H.D. Kumaraswamy, is confident that the coalition Government in the State will complete its term.

At a meet-the-press programme at the Press Club here on Wednesday, he said there were bound to be some problems, especially because it was the first coalition Government in the State. There was also a lot of disgruntlement among the legislators over the delay in the expansion of the Ministry.

To a question on development works coming to a standstill, he said he suspected a "political hand" behind the information technology sector, in particular, voicing concern over the poor infrastructure in Bangalore. Somebody was "prompting" the protests to sully the image of the Government, he charged.

He said the Government was still settling down and the implementation of certain development works was already under way.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said he was not in the race for the chief ministership in the event the JD(S) got a majority in the next Assembly elections. There were many senior leaders in the JD(S) who were capable of the job. "I am here to strengthen the party at all levels and enlist a large number of youth as members of the party. My aim is to unite all those who had left the erstwhile Janata Dal and strengthen the party."

Asked about the recent statements of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, B. Janardhana Poojary, against him and the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, he said it was for the Congress High Command to look into the matter.
