LUCKNOW, NOV. 24. Five suspected naxalites have been arrested in connection with last week's landmine blast in Chandauli district, which killed 17 policemen and PAC personnel, police said here today. A massive combing operation had been launched in the naxalite affected Naugarh forests, Principal Secretary (Home) Alok Sinha told reporters here, adding that more arrests could follow. The State police chief, who had visited the affected area after the blast, has submitted a detailed report to the government, he added. The Inspector General of Varanasi range has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting a thorough inquiry into the blast, Mr. Sinha said. Refusing to divulge the details of the report, he said the government was studying the recommendations for integrated development of the naxal-affected areas in the district. PTI
