Mental health camp

NEW DELHI NOV. 24 . Sir Ganga Ram Hospital's Department of Psychiatry and Psychology is organising a mental health awareness camp in the hospital premises on Thursday. The main feature of the programme would be lectures by senior consultants, question/answer interactive session, free psychiatry evaluation and distribution of free medicines.

Excel awards

NEW DELHI NOV. 24. Aimed at promoting and nurturing the culture of excellence in the organisation, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has announced the winners of its "Excel Awards'' for 2003-04. The annual awards are presented to BHEL employees for their meritorious achievements in various fields. The awards will be presented by the Chairman and Managing Director of the BHEL, A.K.Puri, to 56 employees at a function here on November 27.

On losing weight

NEW DELHI NOV. 24. "Losing weight is as simple as eating more -- eating more fruits and vegetable -- and less of other things like cheese and animal fat,'' said K.K.Aggarwal, President of the Heart Care Foundation of India, at a public discussion here on Tuesday.

He pointed out that obese people should eat food that has high water and fibre content. Several recent studies have shown that while high-protein diet can help weight loss, the effects are short-term. However, studies have shown that those who eat more fruits and vegetables tend to weight less, he added.

Qutub Festival from Nov. 26

NEW DELHI NOV. 24. The historic Qutub Festival starts here from November 26 with entry to it made totally free this year. Being organised with the theme ``Festival of Music dedicated to the youth of Delhi,'' the mega cultural event will provide the platform to redefine the face of culture, the Delhi Minister of Education and Tourism, Arvinder Singh Lovely, said here. The step to provide free entry has been taken to promote people's interest in cultural activities, he said.

Previously the ticket to the festival cost Rs 100 and Rs 200. Apart from this, special buses are being run in collaboration with the DTC to facilitate journey to the venue of the festival in south Delhi. These buses will ply from Jamia, JNU, North Campus, South Delhi and East Delhi. The programmes will commence from 6.30pm daily.
