Why action now two years after attack, asks BJP
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
NOV. 24.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has criticised the arrest of the Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, in the case of attack on S. Radhakrishnan, a former associate of the Kanchi Mutt, at Mandavali here.
In a statement, H. Raja, State general secretary, wondered why the Government did not take action in the last two years, as the attack took place in September 2002. He raised questions on the arrest of the Acharya in connection with the Sankararaman murder case and demanded that the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, reply to them.
Mr. Raja asked why the Government now announced a solatium to Sankararaman's family, who was killed in the Varadaraja Perumal temple at Kancheepuram in Septembers this year.
