Double for Saroya

NEW DELHI, NOV. 24. J.P. Saroya of Punjab Zone claimed the men's 1,500m and 5,000m titles in the 22nd all India Punjab National Bank inter-zone athletic meet at the Karnail Singh Stadium here on Thursday.

The winners: Men: 400m: Gurvinder Singh (Delhi) 0:55.9; 1,500m: J.P. Saroya (Punjab) 4:52.8; 5,000m: J.P. Saroya (Punjab) 18:48.0; High jump: S.K. Dogra (Punjab) 1.40m; Long jump: Jasvinder Singh (Delhi) 5.58m; Shot put: B.P. Singh (UP East) 10.14m; Javelin: R.P. Bhalla (Delhi) 42.90m; Hammer: Sohan Singh (Punjab) 30.99m.

Women: 200m: Kusum Lata (Delhi) 34.9; 800m: Sudha Sharma (MP) 3:44.50; 1,500m: Sudha Sharma (MP) 7:54.0; 3,000m: Sudha Sharma (MP) 17:21.0; High jump: Mamta (Eastern) 1.10m; Long jump: Kusum Lata (Delhi) 3.77m; Shot put: Satya (Punjab) 6.95m; Javelin: Bimal Jass (Northern) 17.03m.
