MADURAI, NOV.24. Temporary traffic diversions will be made around the Meenakshi-Sundareswarar Temple to facilitate drainage works on the Thalavai Agraharam Road. The changes will be enforced with effect from 11 p.m. from November 26. According to the police, lorries, vans and other load-carrying vehicles proceeding to the central vegetable market from Dindigul, Theni and Tirumangalam roads will be diverted via North Masi Street, East Masi Street, Tahsildhar Mosque Road and Indian Bank Road. However, there will be no change in the route taken by such commercial vehicles coming from Melur, Alagarkoil, Sivaganga and Natham roads. Lorries/vans leaving the central vegetable market will be diverted via North Avani Moola Street and North Masi Street. The parking of vehicles on the Tahsildar Mosque Road, South Chithirai Street, Netaji Road and Jhansi Park to Arya Bhavan signal will not be allowed. Loading/unloading of vehicles on the West Masi Street will be permitted only after 10 p.m. All vehicles proceeding towards Thalavai Agraharam Road from Chithirai and Avani Moola Streets will be diverted via East Chithirai Street, Jadamuni Temple Road, South Masi Street, Vilakkuthoon and East Marret Street to Yanaikkal. The vehicles can also take an alternative route via East Chithirai Street, South Chithirai Street, Netaji Road and West Masi Street to reach North Veli Street. The above changes will be in force till the drainage/repair works are completed.
