8 held, 39 cell phones recovered

HYDERABAD, NOV. 24. The East Zone police arrested eight persons and recovered 39 mobile phones allegedly stolen by them in different parts of the city.

The Chaderghat police nabbed an ex-convict, Mir Akbar Ali, and his accomplice, Abdul Samad, while attempting to sell the mobile phones at Jagdish Market in Abids, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, R. P. Singh, told a press conference here on Wednesday. Fourteen handsets of various brands were recovered from their possession. The Chaderghat police also nabbed one, Mohd. Aslam (20), of Falaknuma and recovered 11 mobile phones from him.

The Nallakunta police rounded up a gang of four -- G. Arun Kumar, Neelala Naresh, Ch. Shivaraj and C. Venkatesh -- on charge of lifting 10 mobile phones. The Kachiguda police arrested an ex-convict, Mohd. Pasha, and recovered four cell phones from him. He confessed to having stolen the phones from people engrossed in shopping at Golnaka vegetable market.
