Court summons Telgi, aides

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, NOV. 24. A Delhi court today issued warrants for production of the alleged kingpin of the fake stamp paper scam, Abdul Karim Telgi, and three of his accomplices before the court for assistance in the trial of a scam-related case here.

Issuing the warrants, the Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) for CBI cases, V.K. Khanna, asked the Pune Jail Superintendent to produce Telgi, Shekhar, Pramod Mahadeo and Dilip before the court on December 17.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has already chargesheeted the four accused in the case.

The investigating agency had last year arrested these accused persons for their alleged involvement in the bulk sale of counterfeit revenue stamps, stamp papers and non-judicial stamp papers. In his confessional statement, Pramod had disclosed involvement of other persons also.

At Pramod's instance, the police had arrested Lalit. During his interrogation, Lalit had revealed that he was mainly into property dealing and had his offices at Connaught Place. About five years ago, he had come into contact with one Shiraz, a transporter and close accomplice of Telgi, who arranged his meeting with Pramod. On Promod's insistence, he had rented out one of his offices at Connaught Place to Telagi gang members, Lalit said.
