The names of the best film, the best actor and the best actress in Tamil and Telugu for the year 1953 chosen by a panel of judges of the Film Fans' Association, Madras, were announced at a pleasant function got up in honour of the judges on the lawns of "Sabarmati", Mowbrays Road, Madras, on November 26. Mr. C. Subramaniam, Minister for Finance and Education, presided over the function. A select gathering was present. The choice of the judges was as follows: Best Tamil film: Gemini's "Avvaiyar"; Best Tamil actor: T.K. Shanmugam; Best Tamil a: Vinodha's "Devadas"; Best Telugu actor: A. Nageswara Rao; Best Telugu actress: P. Bhanumathi. The awards will be presented at a function to be held next month.
