India stuns Korea
NEW DELHI,
NOV. 25.
Indian men's team, led by Tamil Nadu's centre Robinson, pulled off a stunning 81-76 victory over Korea in the FIBA Asian Cup tournament at Chinese-Taipei.
The Basketball Federation of India is on a team-building process and this victory will definitely boost its morale in assembling a good team for the next Asian championship.
Perhaps the Indian team, made up of more juniors, was benefited by the Asian junior championship, held in Bangalore two months ago. Robinson was in fine form and scored 36 points as India ran up a 39-34 lead at half time confidently.
Robinson was well supported by Shabeer Ahmed (15), Shivkumar (12) and ball handler Sambaji Kadam put up a good show in feeding and scoring.
India took a 27-24 in the first quarter and surged to 62-48 in the third quarter, defending strongly.
