Erode
By Our Staff Reporter
ERODE, NOV. 25. The Erode Municipality has ordered the attachment of properties of a Kalyana Mandapam on EVN Road towards settlement of property tax arrears. According to Municipal officials, the owner of the Kalyana Mandapam had appealed to the Madras High Court for reducing the tax. But the court directed the owner to approach the Municipal Property Tax Appeal Committee in this regard. On his representation, the Appeal Committee reduced 10 per cent of the tax and the municipality ordered the owner to pay the property tax of Rs. 1,06,942 due from 1998 to this year. However, as no amount was paid by the owner, the Municipal officials ordered the attachment of properties. Some furniture was removed from the Kalyana Mandapam today.
