LG enters server market

NEW DELHI, NOV. 25. Eyeing 10 per cent share of the Indian server market, LG Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. (LGEIL) today expanded its hardware product portfolio with the launch of two servers targeted at the small and medium business enterprises.

LG Electronics India rolled out Pro Server-PA105 and PA110 in the price range of Rs. 54,000 and Rs. 1.4 lakhs. "With this offering, LG would be providing end-to-end solutions to different verticals within the SMB segment," LGEIL Deputy General Manager (Product Group), R. Manikandan told reporters here.

"We are looking at 10 per cent of the domestic market in the first year of launch. The company is targeting a turnover of Rs. 760 crores from the IT segment in 2004," he said. The company's turnover from the IT segment during 2003 was Rs. 450 crores.

The company also plans to export these servers to Sri Lanka, Middle East and South African nations by January next year, he said.

The Pro Server comes with Intel Pentium 4 Processor at 3.04 GHz with 800 MHz FSB and Intel E7210P Chipset.

LGEIL is already offering a whole range of PCs, catering to the varied market segments. The company's manufacturing plant at Greater Noida has a capacity of five lakh units. It now commands 34 per cent share of the monitors market and 44 per cent of the OSDs market.
