Gold shoots up
MUMBAI,
NOV. 25.
Gold prices continued to rise on the bullion market here today and Standard gold (99.5 purity), after breaking all previous records, closed at a new historic high of Rs. 6,700 per 10 grams due to heavy stockists' buying in line with firm overseas advices.
Similarly, silver attracted frantic buying support from stockists as well as industrial users and zoomed by Rs. 135 a kg.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) opened better at Rs. 6,675 and rose further smartly to end at an all-time high of Rs. 6,700 per 10 grams. Pure gold (99.9 purity) closed at Rs. 6,740, revealing a gain of Rs. 35 over the previous close of Rs. 6,705.
In the international market, gold had touched the $450 an ounce level.
