Letters to the Editor
Sir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's observation in his interview to The Shillong Times that power in India can only flow from the ballot box and not from the barrel of the gun (Nov. 23) is significant. In this context, the talks initiated by the Andhra Pradesh Government with the Maoists sends a confusing signal. After the first round of talks, the naxalites have left for the jungles, after clearly stating that they will not lay down arms. Again talk about talks is in the air. How much is the Government willing to yield?
