PONDICHERRY, NOV. 25. Around 50 activists of the Bahoor unit of the Farmers Union, led by the CPI, were arrested when they attempted to lock the gate of an office of Department of Agriculture at Bahoor near heretoday in support of their demands. They were demanding among other things payment of cashcompensation to all farmers without discrimination for loss of crop in the rains, immediate disbursement of arrears of incentives to those who had measured paddy at the regulated markets and payment of cash relief of Rs. 3750 for an hectare of paddy lost in Pondicherry.
