KOLLAM, NOV. 25. The Kerala Departmental Sanskrit Teachers Federation has warned of a strong agitation if the State Government continues to ignore Sanskrit. At a press conference here today the federation president, R. Muralidharan, and general secretary, Surendran Kadakode, said that even the scholarships for outstanding Sanskrit students have been kept suspended for the past three years. They alleged that since the past two years no allocation has been made in the State Budget towards the Sanskrit Education Development Fund. For the purpose of promoting school level Sanskrit education, the Sri Sankaracharya Sanskrit University had constituted a `high level advisory committee.' However, for the past one year a meeting of the committee has not been held, Mr. Surendran said.
