THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 25. The Kerala State Transport Drivers Union has urged the Government to take over the pension liability of the employees of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation. A resolution passed at the two-day 34th State conference of the union which concluded here today also urged the Corporation management not to purchase "hi-tech" bodies as it was not driver-friendly and caused heavy loss to the Corporation.
Correspondence
The conference also urged the management to ensure that all correspondence from the Corporation chief office to the depots was in Malayalam. The Corporation should take steps for restoring one shunting duty for 18 buses. Another resolution demanded that schedules should be revised only with the consent of the recognised unions. The conference also elected the former MP, V.S. Sivakumar, president, Sunny Thomas and Kattakada Thankappan as working presidents, P. Francis as general secretary and S. Krishnan Kutty as treasurer of the union.
`Anti-people'
Earlier, inaugurating the valedictory meeting, the former KPCC president, K. Muraleedharan, said there were officials in the Corporation who could not imbibe the recent changes in the department. The officials were trying to continue anti-people and anti-employee policies. They should change their style of functioning, he added. The union president, V. S. Sivakumar, presided. K. MohanKumar, MLA, also participated.
