Nadoja Award presented

HAMPI, NOV. 25. The Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, who is also the Chancellor of Kannada University, conferred the prestigious `Nadoja' (teacher of the State) Award, on Chidanandamurthy, research scholar; G.S. Khanderao, artist; and Siriyajji, a folk artiste, at the 13th `Nudihabba' (convocation) of the university on Wednesday. The award is equivalent to the D.Litt. degree.

Mr. Chaturvedi conferred the D. Litt. degree on six persons — A.V. Prasanna, C. Somashekar, C.S. Aparna, C.S. Dwarakanath, Jayashri Arvind and H.C. Sharatchandra.

Twenty-three persons were awarded Ph.D. degrees by the Governor.

D. Manjunath, Minister for Higher Education, who is the Pro-Chancellor of the university, presented M.Phil. degrees to 10 persons.

B.A. Vivek Rai, Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the gathering.
