HAMPI, NOV. 25. The Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, who is also the Chancellor of Kannada University, conferred the prestigious `Nadoja' (teacher of the State) Award, on Chidanandamurthy, research scholar; G.S. Khanderao, artist; and Siriyajji, a folk artiste, at the 13th `Nudihabba' (convocation) of the university on Wednesday. The award is equivalent to the D.Litt. degree. Mr. Chaturvedi conferred the D. Litt. degree on six persons A.V. Prasanna, C. Somashekar, C.S. Aparna, C.S. Dwarakanath, Jayashri Arvind and H.C. Sharatchandra. Twenty-three persons were awarded Ph.D. degrees by the Governor. D. Manjunath, Minister for Higher Education, who is the Pro-Chancellor of the university, presented M.Phil. degrees to 10 persons. B.A. Vivek Rai, Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the gathering.
