BANGALORE, NOV. 25. Thieves had a field day during the demonstration by representatives of the Kannada film industry in front of the Vidhana Soudha on Thursday. At least 30 people, including director S.V. Rajendra Singh, who took part in the agitation, were relieved of their mobile phones. The presence of several policemen did not deter the thieves.
Heroes in custody
Popular Kannada film heroes Vishnuvardhan, Ravichandran, Upendra, Sudeep and Darshan were in "police custody" for nearly an hour. The actors, who had reached the Vidhana Soudha before Kannada thespian Rajkumar had done so, were made to sit in a Hoysala patrol vehicle till he arrived. This was done to prevent fans from mobbing them.
Work is worship
As a galaxy of film stars descended near the Vidhana Soudha, hundreds of Secretariat employees came out of their offices to have a closer view of them. As the employees did not return for long, an announcement was made over the public address system requesting them to return to work immediately. Some senior police officials were seen sending the employees back to offices.
Halt! Who goes there?
Presspersons and photographers had a tough time during the agitation. The police, who had tightened security at the Vidhana Soudha, restricted people, including journalists, from going near the building. Mediapersons had a heated exchange of words with policemen several times. But once the demonstration was over, it was camaraderie as usual.
