ANANTAPUR, NOV. 25. The Rayadurg police arrested five persons in a murder case on Wednesday and seized arms, ammunition and Rs. 80,000 in cash from their possession. The Superintendent of Police, R.S. Praveen Kumar, told reporters at Rayadurg that Hanumantha Rayudu, a pseudo naxalite, Jagannatha Reddy, Negendra, Bheemi Reddy and Ramesh were arrested in the murder case of one Ramadas Chowdary on September 15 this year. Ramadas Chowdary, a TDP activist, was allegedly killed in retaliation to another murder the previous day. The police recovered four tapanchas, one country-made revolver, seven bombs, 20 revolver bullets, a hunting sickle and Rs. 80,000. Later, the SP visited Pulagampalli village in Nallamada mandal, where a pseudo naxalite, Narayanaswamy (30), was beaten to death by the villagers, unable to bear his "harassment."
Beaten to death
Narayanaswamy entered into an argument with one Gangadri, and another person, Nagappa, tried to pacify them. The pseudo naxalite stabbed Nagappa. Enraged locals beat Narayanaswamy to death. The police registered cases against Gangadri and 21 others.
Cases withdrawn
However, when requested by the villagers the SP announced lifting of cases as they had killed an anti-social element. He reiterated that police would not register cases against people if they fought anti-social elements.
