NELLORE, NOV.25. The district Collector, B. Rajsekhar, lauded the contribution of senior artistes from the district towards the success of literacy and thrift movements and anti-arrack agitation. He was speaking at a function held at the District Public Relations Office, Nellore, on Thursday, where the official handed over cheques and house sites to senior artistes. In recognition of the artistes' contribution to social causes, the Government had decided to provide a financial assistance of Rs. 500 per month to them, he said. Each of the 90 artistes present today was handed over cheques worth Rs. 11,000. The MLA, Anam Vivekananda Reddy, the District Revenue Officer, P. Bhaskar and other officials were present.
