State trampling on rights: naxal outfits
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
NOV. 25.
The CPI (Maoist) and CPI (ML) Janashakti have accused the State of "snatching away" democratic rights by threats and imposing ban orders in places where the parties decided to hold meetings.
In a statement, Pradeep, Polit Bureau member of the CPI (Maoist), and Bahujan, central committee member of Janashakti, accused the Ministers of adopting double standards with regard to permitting meetings. They singled out the Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, and the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, quoting them as saying that the Cabinet would allow the meetings. But they asked the police to thwart the meetings. The Government changed its stand in view of "groundswell of people's support at the meetings organised by the Maoist parties."
The two leaders charged Dr. Reddy and the Ministers with failure to "honestly" implement the election pledges, particularly on land reforms.
