KOCHI, NOV. 25. The Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, B. Subhashan Reddy, has made it clear that the service of a sitting judge cannot be spared for heading a judicial commission to inquire into the attack on mediapersons at the Karipur airport. He made the statement while hearing the arguments on writ petitions seeking to issue quo warranto against the Industries Minister, P. K. Kunhalikutty, and a further investigation into the ice-cream parlour sex scandal case. The Chief Justice said that the backlog of cases in the High Court came to 1.37 lakhs while subordinate courts had over six lakh cases. In such a case, the service of a sitting judge could not be spared for conducting a judicial inquiry.
